Setup → Categories. This is the main setting before the first import and the most common reason it comes out badly.
One rule
A product reaches the store only from a category that is enabled and has a store category assigned. Fail either condition and the products of that category are not imported, and the log gets a line about the skip.
How to set it up
- Open a supplier — from the tab above or from the list. Their feed loads and shows its categories. Loading can take a few minutes; there is no need to close the page.
- Next to the categories you need, pick the store category the products go into.
- Enable the categories whose products should be imported and updated.
Changes are saved immediately. Three counters at the top: total categories, enabled, not finished. Enabled categories without a store category are highlighted — nothing is imported from them.
Do not take the whole feed
The temptation to enable everything is understandable and usually harmful: the more categories, the longer the import and the more of your catalogue is filled with goods you never meant to sell. Start with two or three categories, get them right and add more — a category can be enabled at any time, and its products arrive with the next import.
No tab for a supplier
Then it is not enabled. Go back to Setup → Suppliers and switch it on — its categories will appear here afterwards.
