PIMPORT is a separate program on your own hosting. It sits next to the store rather than inside it, and does two things: it creates supplier products in your catalogue and then keeps their prices and availability current.
Two jobs, not one
The menu keeps them apart — the Work group:
- Import products — reads the feed and creates what is not in the store yet. Heavy work, done rarely.
- Update prices — walks the products already created and changes price and stock. Light work, done on a schedule.
Do not mix them up: the price update never creates new items, and the import does not touch prices of existing ones unless you turn overwriting on yourself.
What gets configured
The Setup group follows the direction the data moves in:
- Suppliers — where the feed comes from;
- Categories — which store categories the products go into;
- Products and Prices — what changes along the way;
- Export — where the finished catalogue is handed over.
The length of this menu does not depend on how many plugins are on: a plugin adds a tab inside a section, not a new menu item.
What the program does not do
It is not a store engine and does not replace its admin panel. Orders, customers, delivery, payment — all of that stays in the store. PIMPORT is responsible only for the products that came from a supplier.
It also does not decide what you sell: which supplier categories to take and at what markup are your decisions, the program carries them out.
