The schedule lives in Settings → General, the “Scheduled runs” group. Two periods are set, and they mean different things.
Two periods
- Price update period, seconds. The job will not start work more often than this, even if cron pokes it every minute. 7200 is once every two hours.
- New product import period, seconds. 86400 is once a day. The default of 80400 is 22 hours 20 minutes — a historical value.
Keeping them apart is worth it: a price update is light work and is done often; importing new products is heavy and once a day is plenty.
How much per run
In the same place, the “Price update” group:
- Products per pass — the batch size taken from the queue. Lower it if a run does not fit the hosting limits on time or memory.
- Maximum iterations per cron run — a fuse against an endless queue loop.
How often is actually needed
Take your cue from the supplier, not from your wishes. If they refresh the feed twice a day, hourly checks only heat up the hosting: the program downloads the same file and finds no changes. A sensible starting point is every two to four hours for prices and once a day for new products.
