Connect a supplier

Feed formats

XML, YML, CSV, Excel. What is read out of the box and what needs a class of its own.

The format decides not whether a supplier can be connected, but how much work it takes.

Read from a template

  • XML — the most common case: a link the supplier refreshes themselves. Read straight from the URL, nothing to upload by hand.
  • YML — the Yandex.Market dialect, the same one Rozetka and Prom use. Categories, brands and pictures already have their place in it, which is why such a feed is the quickest to connect.
  • CSV — any delimiter and any encoding. Once, during setup, the program is shown which column is the SKU, which is the price and which is the stock.
  • Excel — XLS and XLSX, including workbooks that arrive by e-mail. Several sheets and merged header cells are not a problem, but they are exactly why Excel takes longer to unpick than the other formats. XLSX needs the zip extension.

When a class is needed

A class in custom/Supplier is written when the feed cannot simply be downloaded and read:

  • it is behind a wholesale login;
  • it is assembled from several files;
  • its structure cannot be described by a template;
  • there is no feed at all and the data is collected from the supplier’s site pages.

For you nothing changes in the interface: a connected class looks and is configured exactly like a supplier from a template.

Currency

If a supplier quotes prices in a currency other than the store’s and the store cannot convert, the rates are set in Settings → General as lines like USD=41.5 — “one dollar is 41.5 in the store currency”. A currency that is not listed there goes through unchanged.
